I have a 87 and am thinking of buying a pair of scissor style window regulators that came off a 90. Is this an easy upgrade? Has any one had personal experience with this?
I thought the 87s came with the scissor style jacks? If not, look on the bottom of your door, underneath. See if it has holes there already (or is it a slot) for the scissor regs. I forget. The hardest part is adjusting the glass to prevent leaks.
This is a 2 on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the hardest.
It takes a whole hour to do. The results are well worth it. and yes you should already have the scissors...but the motor could be old and weak at this stage.
I took the door off last week due to the ribbon fell out the motor and my window dropped. I am sure I dont have the scissors. I will buy them thanks for the info
I agree with J, this is an easy upgrade but can be tedious with adjustments to the window. I had to "roll up" and "roll down the assembly to get it in easier, about half way works good if I remember correctly. Still didnt take very long.
Other members provided me an install guide for the newer design regulator and a window adjustment guide in .pdf format. I will be glad to pass them on to you if you need them. PM your email addy and I will be glad to send em to ya.
