Help: Running bad
need some help please. i have an 88 with tpi , just replaces plugs,cap,rotor, car starts fine,and idles fine,but when put in gear and driven has horrible cut out,like no fuel or missfireing (bucking sensation or cutting out while holding the gas pedal at a steady speed)and occasionally backfires pops while driveing, when you step on it or get on it while driveing it screams,all the power in the world, but still bucks alittle and has a chattering sound,like its advanceing to far,then idles rough for a minute then smooths back out.checked for codes,and pulled ecm,and tps code.checked tps and reads ok.but still can hardly drive it,due to the bucking and fells like its cutting out or miss fireing,also checked all full system and its ok.vaccume lines are all ok as well. also hear a little tick rick sould verry faintly in distributor while running. any ides on whats going on? was going to replace it with new acell distro. but the one they show for it has HEI with vacume advance.can i still use this? will it take care of the problem? also was going to replace the TPS as well just in case,,

i checked the timing with a light and its ok, it did make kind of a pop sound and a little puff of smoke from around the the back,near the distributor area,when i first started it. but that was it.it still starts and all just fine.i also checked the wires,and fireing order it all seems ok.i replaced the cap again just to make shure their wasnt any cracks,and checked for burned wires.and made shure the plugs were gaped properly. all seem ok.
