I know cutting the factory lid works , but this eckler front design looks like it has to work better. Has anyone had any positive results after using it?
I don't know which one you mean. I have the SLP ram air that effectively has a scoop on the front edge of a closed air filter lid. This scoop extends down into the radiator's air stream. It requires cutting out a section of the front of the radiator shroud. Cost is about $150; if you're clever you could make one.
Sorry I did not clarify. The one I am refering to is the one were you remove
the front liscense plate cover and install there duct work from the nose back.
It seems this should work better than most.

It added about 5hp or 0.5mph at the traps.
About a year ago someone posted pictures where they blocked off the air intake through the origional lid, and then cut a hole through the bottom of the filter housing and shroud and put a cone type filter in it. I never heard anyone else coment on doing this but it looked like a good way to get the cold air intake cheap!! I printed it and I believe I have it in a book somewhere.
