Default Newer lt1 opti installation problems

Hi just one question. I have upgraded the opti+camdrive to the newer model Lt. When i set the camdrive dot to dot the rotor points is at the no.6 cylinder? Is this really right? The opti only fits one way so there´s nothing wrong there.

If memory serves me correctly, just because the rotor points in that direction does not mean that is plug it is going to. The cap is layed out to put the wires in order and not like a standard cap the the wires are arranged in firing order.

Hello, Ok I have installed several Optis and its a Keyed setup on the gear drive, meaning it only goes in one way . What Year Vette are you working on ??

The Vette is a -92 with the later Lt1 opti upgrade so i can run the billet camdrive.
Here´s a picture of the drive and cover. I was just curious about why it sets at the no.6 cylinder when installed.

Edit: It was the wrong picture i posted before :/

With the timing set gears' dots as close to each other as possible (crank at top cam at bottom ) you should be at TDC compression for #6. With the dots both at the top (12 o'clock) you will be at TDC compression for #1.

IOW you're good to proceed with the install.

Because when the dot on the cam gear is at 6 o'clock and the dot on the crank gear is at 12 the engine is at TDC on number 6.
TDC on number one cylinder occurs when the dot on the cam and crank gears are both at 12 o'clock.
You can install the timing chain in either position, I prefer the one you used since it is easier to align the marks correctly.
Once the cam and crank are in time it does not make any difference where the cam pin is at when you install the Opti it will be in time.
