there are two screws in the front center area right by the 4 A/C vents. There are also 2 screws in the defrost outlet by the windshield

I only needed to remove the two screws above the center A/C vents to get the digi dash out. To remove the pad the far side screws are pretty difficult.

Two screws are located on each side of the defroster vent. See photo. Once you get all the screws out you have to pull the pad directly back as there are aligator type clamps on the front left & right sides of the dash pad. These clips just slide into place, but they can be a little difficult to break loose. Just give is a good pull, BUT make sure you have all the screws out before you start pulling.

Also, as Ardwolf says, you don't have to remove the pad to get the instrument cluster out. Just lower the steering column and you can get the cluster out.

Once you get it out you can clean inside there. Lots of dust and crud from all those years of use.
When I removed my 87's I was glad to see there were no mousie nests in there as there was previous evidence of them chewing wires under the hood and even a dead mouse in the spare tire carrier.

I will try to remove the panel without taking dash off. I read to make it a little easer unscrew the tilt arm to give you more room.
But first i must go boating down the conn. river. It's very hot today. Thanks for all the help. Steve
