most trans drives are 1:1 with out over drive.
I think in the 6 speed 4th gear is 1:1
with a 1/2" smaller tire Dia. it should be as if you went to a 2.54 rear gear
maybe this will help
RPM= MPH X gear ratio X Trans drive ratio X 336 divided by tire Diameter
gear ratio = RPM X tire Dia. / trans ratio / MPH / 336
MPH = RPM X tire Dia. / trans ratio / gear ratio / 336
I think I see what you're asking, so I'll give it a shot...
You're using 16" wheels, correct? If so, switching from 255/50 tires to 245/45 tires would be the same as running the the original 255/50's with a 2.73 axle, not all that much of a difference.
Sorry for the mistake
i got in to a hurry, (wife nagging me to turn out the lights)
1/2" smaller tire would be like a 2.64
1" smaller tire would be like a 2.70
