aftermarket HEI coils
I have the Accel coil and cap and they do fit tight, I used a dremel tool to grind away the back of the cap on an angle so it wouldn't hit the hood. This coil and cover were on the car when I got it, I wouldn't have purchased this setup myself..If your getting the new cap and coil just for more spark, its not necessary until your into at least the 375-400 hp range. The stock coil will handle most cars out there..WW

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
JACOBS Electronics makes and sells an entire line of high-end ignition products for our engines. The owner, who has a PhD on the subject, published a book on the automotive ignition system. Naturally I had to buy it to see what's what. (Where it now is anyone's guess, LOL.)
In it he explains what works, what doesn't and why. He even wrote about the plug wire resistance game the wire companies play. You know, "My plug wires have less resistance than yours so mine are better". Eye candy!
He went on to write that the GM coils are right at the top of the list of the best coils you can buy, even compared to his - Now That's Saying Something When You Think About It.
He even listed the specific GM part numbers of the coils he's tested and on which he based his conclusions. Of course, I can't recall the actual #s, but they may be listed on the Jacob's site.
Just passing this along for what it's worth. Hope it helps.
Jake
But what I can remember I did not notice and change the car was stock 1982 Recaro TA with the little 305 pushing around
I though it was a waste of money at the time.

I've been running the stock Delco system in my '84 turbo 355 for years. There's enough oomph in the stock system for most reasonable applications.
