1986 Odometer doesn't work but speedometer does?

1986 Odometer doesn't work but speedometer does?
Where do I begin to look to fix this problem? it's a digital dash (not sure if all 86 vetts had this) but the speedometer works... the trip meter works... but the odometer appears to be stuck at 125xxx.4

The mechanical odometer has a stepper motor that moves it forward one click at a time. I looked at the 86 manual and could not find the stepper motor signal in the electrical section, but I suspect it comes from the dash circuit and not the ECM.

gbrtng... thanks I need to open of the dash yet...
I've found so many open ended wires under the hood it's not funny... think it might be best to wait until my service manual gets here.
