Default Foglight Improvements???

What upgrades can be done to the foglights as far as bulbs and anything else that might help. Other than HIDS.

after a little research I found I can use 55 watt bulbs as long as I change the fuse to a 15 amp. I believe the foglights are a 896 style but I cant find 55 watt bulbs from this type????

Upgraded mine to HID. Check out this web site www.corvettehid.com. Easy to install, work great. There was a write up with great pictures on installing these. Do a search to find it.

HID's are the way to go.

beware of putting higher wattage standard or halogen bulbs in there. The plastic housing is not designed for the additional heat they produce and warpage of the bulb's base can occur if you use them often.

i added a set of ebay "881" hid's and they work great and were real simple to install (once i figured out the harness plug for the ballast can go in either way, leaving the polarity wrong even though the wiring was right).

lots of additional light, and since they use the ballast, they put a lot less heat inside the plastic lamp housings.

I believe the high wattage bulb is the 885 for the fogs, with the 15A fuse. I don't think its a 55W bulb though.

It's a 50 watt, put them in mine and no, the plastic is not affected. I run them all the time.

Finished the install on the 885's, After long search through the FSM discovered no 15AMP fuse for the fogs. Run off the 60AMP headlight fuse. The old 896's are 38AMP Not a big jump in load for a good gain in lums.

IMHO a 60 amp fuse will support 720 watts.

They are non-active

The only upgrade to do that would be noticeable is to install the HID kit. You can find them in Ebay. I did the 55W bulb and had no impact, it was money thrown away.

The HID kit it's easy to install

corvettehid.com is still around, but i found a set on ebay sold by "radiatorguyz" and installed them without a hiccup.

$35 later I had them within 1 week and other than purchasing some 3M HD foam backed tape to mount the ballasts on top of the bumper supports, everythink I needed was in the kit.

RJ

p.s. their service and shipping speed was so impressive I ordered a radiator from them as well. Both got to me within 48hrs of placing the order

Doesn't look like they do C4 lights anymore, at least not fogs.

Default Would LEDs fit?

I don't use my fogs as 'real' lights, so I'd like to install one of the LED equivalents that would be highly visible but not necessarily useful for lighting the road. I've looked for an 896 equivalent with no luck, but other led lights seem to have the same base (just from looking at the pics). Anyone tried this?
Thanks!
