I want to put in a cheater kit in the storage compartment behind the passanger seat. I want to run a small bottle with the silenoids and everything inside the compartment with the hatch button in the center console as a activation switch. Can I tap into the manifold under the fuel rail covers with a fogger nozzle or should I give this idea up???????
You stated a cheater system? The tiny bottle from NOS is a wasted of time. May give you a 10th in the 1/4 mile. A 2 1/2lb. bottle will fit in the compartment behind the passengers seat. 5lb.bottle is to high and the lid will not close. You can also fit two 2 1/2lb bottles in the compartment and run a T off them. This will give you 5lbs of NOS out of site. Bring the NOS line in under your car and drill a hole into the compartment. Bring the line in and just seal around the hole.
Thats what I was planning on but using a bottle out of a kit they make for my wave runner maybe the 2.5 lb one your are mentioning. I already have my ignition mounted there and it just took a crap so I am going to place it somewhere else and put the kit in there. But can I tap into the manifold under the fuel rail covers and where in the manifold???
you can't stick a single fogger directly into the plenum somewhere. you'll have to either plumb to each runner individually, or put a fogger before the TB.
Im NO expert on nitrous, but tell me if this math looks right or am i missing something?
If 93Zeus goes with a 10 oz cheater systerm can't it be worht something? Here look at this.
25Hp shot of Nitrous is about 1lbs of NOS flow per minute. The are 16 oz's in a lbs so the cheater bottle holds 0.625 Lbs. So that means that he could roughy get 25Hp for 0.625 minutes= 38 seconds. Now I don't know were bottle pressure comes into play of how much of that 38 seconds will be a full 25 hp or how much a 25 shot helps..
If you can go by that math..the a 50 Shot out that bottle should theoretically be possible because 50HP shot is 2lbs of NOS per minute, so divide the 38 seconds by 2 and get 19 seconds at 50HP...
I guess the question is: How long can the bottle provide pressure to supply the feed for 2lbs/min for 19 seconds?
Does that make any sense...or should i go back to the books...Remember im no Nitrous expert and never used, just trying to see if the numbers can be manipulated in that way.
Goto www.nitrousexpress.com and pose this question to them. There is a part on the website where they have a listing of the different systems that they have available, and you can send in an overview of what you are planning on doing. They should be able to tell you if it is plausible or not. If I was doing that I wouldn't worry about hiding the solenoids or anything, and would put two of the biggest bottles I can fit in the rear compartments. I think with some minor modifications, you might be able to fit two 5 pounders back there, remember they have to be placed at 15 degree angles. The reason that I wouldn't hide the solenoids is because, if you are doing this for legal reasons, if the cop doesn't see a bottle in the rear, he would have no reason to have you pop your hood.
I am not worried about cops. The reason I want an invisible cheater is my friends and I have a market on the fastest cars in town and are starting to race in Pensacola for $$$$ just need a little extra umph to save me some $$$. I will only use it if i am about to lose.
A few additional notes from another non nitrous expert. Bottles in the car (passenger compartment) need to be vented to the exterior. The bottle(s) have shut off valves that will have to be dealt with. A solenoid THAT far from the point of injection will have considerable lag. All the depressurization of the nitrous will take place in the long line from the solenoid to the nozzle. Most if not all of the cooling effect of the vaporization of the nitrous will be lost. I hope you are not planning on street racing. I won't go into the pitfalls of that! If you take it to the track, they DEMAND to know if you are using nitrous. In case of a problem, the safety crew needs to know what they're up against. Maybe you should try to hide a blower. Good luck and keep it safe (and legal).
A guy I work with has a similar set up on a rustang except his runs into a fogger nozzle at the air filter. His silenoids are also right at his bottle with approx. 10 ft of hose to run through which he says takes about a full second before it kicks in but he still has the full effect of the bottle even with such a long delay.
Here's another option. With what you are doing you are talking about basically running a dry nitrous kit because it will be a very small shot. NOS makes a throttle body that has the nitrous ports built in. It bolts right up and it can't be seen if you are careful about your routing of your nitrous line.
The only problem with this setup is that the NOS throttle body says NOS on it. However, the only difference between this throttle body and a plain Holley TB is the nitrous equipment and the top plate that says NOS instead of Holley. SO, get the NOS TB, put a normal TB plate on it, like a Corvette bowtie or something, then put the rest of your cheater system in the storage ditch and you'll be good to go. Nobody should be the wiser unless they really do some digging.
It won't be real cheap, but it will be hidden, plus the TB has the capability to do up to like a 175 shot should you later have the urge.
Many ways to hide the Nitrous completely. You can actually plumb the lines to go through the air box and even go as far as to put the selenoids in the air box. Run the lines through MAF and put the nozzle post MAF so you do not interfere with the readings. You wil block a little air flow, but not much (use hard lines, they are smaller). You can also run the wiring/feed lines to the airbox through AIR style hoses so that no one can visible see the braided lines. The '94 and up have a AIR feed from the Air box that is perfect for hiding stuff. If you so chose.
Nitrous will not save you from a loss in many cases. By the time you know your going to loose it is too late. Not enough time to react IMO. Plus, unless you are only loosing by 1/2 a car length, a 50 shot will hardly be noticable in short bursts. Don't believe what you see in the movies.
That is a good idea as well..I want to put a 100 shot in and i will use it towards the end if i know the other guy has more power not just in case sorry bad choice of words on my part. Good idea with the airbox though thanks
