I was on a job assignment aboard and I didn't get to drive my Vette for ~ a year, my father was able to start the car and run the engine once a week (he doesn't know how to drive stick). I believe the suspension / shock is bad and I do want to replace them. I had the selective ride control but the '96 has a different ones (F45) from the rest of the C4s I think... I try to look for replacements on the internet but was not very successful... does anyone has any suggestions or should I just go to the dealer and get the stock part? Any better upgrade would be great!
F45 shocks are long since discontinued, so salvage is your only choice.
Personally I'd get rid of them and put a set of Bilstein or Koni shocks on there. You can insert resistors in the sockets to keep the Service Ride Control light from illuminating or you can pull the bulb from the DIC. Store the OEM shocks for the next owner.

I wasn't sure about that, now I'm 100% sure. Thanks Jim
