how is it intercooled? is there a meth sprayer?

These kinds of superchargers remind me of nitrous, the way the torque curve comes on hard and then drops off with increasing RPM.

What I envision is a small nitrous shot on a window switch - (say idle to 4000 RPM) and a centrifugal supercharger. The beauty of that idea is that the nitrous shot boost starting line performance, elimiates bogging and cools everything down - for a moment, before the supercharger takes over.

All on the stock bottom end ! as long as you arent spraying nitrous and boosting it should all be ok !

Best of both worlds.

there's an air-to-water under the blower

Here's one on a GTO

it might, you need to see if there's enough metal to put in the different bolt pattern.

The radiator outlet, and distributor hole would go unused, but it would give you the option of running one.

Brian-

I don't believe the older small blocks have an intercooler integrated into the lower intake manifold.

the guy that was getting ready to build Lt-x manifolds (to be used with the eaton superchargers) said the packaging wouldn't allow for a convensional intercooler. At least not one sufficent in size to support any "decent" power. Also, it would increase the height of the entire assembly.

Looks like you would need a 1.5-2" cowl hood to clear it in a C4 though...

China wall to hood at the front is 9.150". The blueprints only have the highest height listed and it appears to be a bit further back than the point of the front china wall.

Did a rough scale and dropped it in, matching the valve covers and engine/transmission face.
Helps to visualize it a little better.
Wouldn’t take much to cover it?

Does anyone know if trying to use the C5 style head unit, with the blower inlet located on the front and the side drive pulley arrangment would buy the needed clearance? I also wonder if it would fit on the Gen1 blower manifold.

This style of inlet would definitely make for a better looking and cleaner installation, not sure if it would buy extra clearance.

I remember calling magnacharger years ago and they said that they could make the side pulley system a custom length or supply a longer shaft and you could cut it to fit. It would really get down to how much lower the side shaft would be with respect to the front mount style shaft.

It would be really cool to put a magnacharger or whipple on top and have it clear the hood.

If you think about an L98 setup, the biggest restriction is the tuned port manifold, so replacing that with the blower would be a good way to go.

I rememebr years ago at some of the car shows (Bloomington/ChevyVettefest) I saw a few C4 big block 454/502 cars and they had the bulging hood to clear. They looked out of proportion, so being able to do this with a stock C4 hood would be ideal.

If someone addressed the C4 market I would do this on my 89 L98 in a heartbeat.

For now I'll keep upgrading my 96 CE procharger car.....

Highmileage, you've made the same progress I have on that. I, like you, post that idea up hoping someone will bite on it but nobody yet...

Sure wish they would. It would be cool.
