I just got my first Vette yesterday and ended up driving it home for three hours in the rain
I realized there was some bad tire shake and got the wheels balanced as soon as I got back. Then I parked it in the driveway and washed and waxed it today. I got in to drive it off and guess what? Nothing. No starter click or anything. I pulled out the battery (pain!) and had it checked but that's not the problem. Then I tried starting it a few hours later and no problem. It seems to come and go.
Any experts out there know some common problems that could be associated with these symptoms? I will probably have a professional look at it but I am really just curious.
Watch the "SECURITY" lamp in the gauge cluster and note what it is doing when it won't start. In the mean time clean the resistor pellet in your ignition key with a pencil eraser.
In the future please post the year of your car and any modifications that may be related to a particular problem in your posts.
Sorry my vette is a '95. It's got an aftermarket air intake and exhaust system- I'm still trying to get all the info on the modifications.
Haha, I know I need to fill up my profile. And thanks for the tips- I will look into cleaning the ignition and check out the VATS. At least I have some starting places for trouble shooting, right?
