After rebuilding my '93 LT-1 I had a slight ticking from the # 8 lifter. I assumed (bad word) that I just had a little bit of adjusting to do on the rocker arm. Curiously the ticking would go away after the car warmed up.
The noise has gotten worse now that I have about 9,000 mile on it. The ticking is louder and there is a putt-putt sound coming from that side of the engine until it warms up.
Do I just have a valve adjustment issue, a collapsed lifter, or did I burn a valve. And yes, I know I should have fixed it sooner.
BTW, everything except the crank, rods and block were replaced during the rebuild.
First thing is to pull that cover and have a look see. Guys have recently reported on other forums of noises like yours that turned out to be diaster caught JUST IN TIME.
If you don't SEE anything, then check the preload. If it's OKAY too, time to break out the tools. Valvetrain failures can be unforgiving -- Read that $$$

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jake. I just downloaded and printed your "sticky" off of the LS1LT1.com forum. I'll try that. Thanks for your help.
