hey guys.
Just wondering where you all are getting your lt4 hotcams from.
Who sells them?
How much are they going for?
Any of you with the hotcam put your car on the dyno?
How much horsepower gain is there with just the cam?
Flywheel?, Rearwheel?
any info is greatly appreciated
The cam was essentially the only performance change that I did and will dyno the car in couple of weeks. I hope to pick up 25-30 rwhp-that is what most get.
And my Service Engine light has yet to go off with 200 miles under it after clearing the code for the MAP sensor failure that I neglected to connect.
I will try to do a post with all the stuff I used as this seems like a real good modification to any LT4.
NoGo,
I am a little nosy but that 260hp LT4 stock seems awfully low. Was there something wrong with it? My stock LT4 with 55,000 miles on it dynoed at 299.3. Most stock LT4s are in that range.

Try this, I haven't had a single check engine light since i've had my motor done. I'm really surprised too. It stalled on me once a couple of days ago (first time .. i need to bump up my idle), and lately i've been roasting the tires around town pretty much :).

   that is low.. something has to be wrong... LT4's dyno around 300 or lowest of like 280's.
Glock'94: We have been over this before...it is called a MUSTANG dyno, look at the mph in the quarter for verification...
Little more info: my brother's 10,000 mile 2002 LS1 Z28 T56 made 268 RWHP stock save for a Whisper lid (worth what ?) on the very same MUSTANG unit. These cars run in the 300's as well on more common DYNO JET dynos.
rcolling: Like the big time drag racers will tell you on this forum-dyno numbers are just numbers for bragging (and you can imagine I'm not bragging about a 260 HP:)). I was including them to show the difference for each modification. One really can't compare one dyno to another especially from different manufacturers-some are more consistent-but it certainly isn't an exact science. So, no there is nothing wrong with the car, but yes it is low compared to what most people know. I have a dyno sheet on my 'Home Page.'
Anyhoo, I'm very impressed with the performance increase the camshaft has provided. One could swap the camshaft and associated gaskets (+plus labor-free?) and have a healthy increase for little money invested. Guess it is one of the good things the factory has done, which doesn't happen very often it seems.
I had great luck with the hotcam... see sig for details and other mods but it was still a LT1... Hammer is getting my combo now and i am excited for him to experience whats in store.. i know when i drove the car i was thoroughly impressed.. the power difference from 274rwhp to 373rwhp is sorta SOTP noticeable. LOL.. he's in for a special treat... get a nice set of heads with your combo. it will really wake it up... that cam likes to feed air pretty good.. check my trap speeds as well for horsepower correlation. good luck and please post your results!!
