I have a '92 and was able to get the motor loose from the bracket, and the bracket from the headlight loose from the motor but there is this little silver piece that attaches the motor shaft to the headlight bracket that won't go through the motor mounting bracket it looks like it is a rolled pin that we can't knock out, or pull out with needle nose pliers. I was also going to just rebuild it in the bracket but I can't get the metal gear off the white plastic gear that the shaft goes through. Any help and instruction would be appreciated.
removal of motor from assembly:
loosen bolt 4, second pic
loosen bolt 2, first pic (ALSO GOOD PIC OF THIS BOLT ( in red circle) IN PIC 3)
you can then remove bolt 1 (it will not come out, until bolt '2' is loosened) and bolt 3, first pic, and the bolt shown in fourth pic, with a yellow circle, which is on the back side of the h/l motor.
then remove the roll pin in blue circle 3rd pic
The roll pin (blue circle) was tough. I was afraid of manglin' it. I put the penetratin' lube on it, then put the vise grips on it gently and squeezed, so the pin would close a little, and allow the oil to get on the outside of the pin. Turn slowly, and work it - it is tight!!!
I didn't pull it all the way out either - above, first post, red circle.
Ok we got the motor off the car put the new bushings in, checked it to make sure they would turn, everything worked perfectly. We started to reinstall and got everything put in except the roll pin and it didn't want to open the the headlight bucket but it would close close it just fine. So we disassemble again and check the motor and find a washer on the top is broken. Find another washer approx same size, thickness, and diameter and put it on and the motor seems to work so we start reassembly get everything back together and put roll pin back in and now it doesn't work again. What are we doing wrong. Also on the drivers side headlight motor there is a little silver triangle shaped thing on the motor shaft that has a T on it and can't figure out what it does.
