I was changing my headlight bulbs and noticed that a few of the torx screw plastic fasteners that hold on the housing are stripped. Also, whild replacing the sunvisors, I noticed that the holes that these 2 metal screws screw into are also stripped.
I'm thinking about putting some glue or epoxy in the fasteners/holes and then putting the screws in to secure things. How do you guys handle this kind of problem?
I've run into a lot of these on the '85 that I'm redoing. The plastic parts I used J-B weld (the 4-6 minute one) and re-drilled a small hole through it, then re-screwed the fastener. Works fine.
For the metal parts, I've used both the J-B weld and done the same thing (on a door panel), but I have also just tapped a larger hole and used a bit larger fastener. I guess it just depends on the part when deciding how to go about it.
