radiator hose question

I'm getting ready to take my car on its first road trip since I've had it,1200 miles...its an 86 with 98000 miles and it sat for the better part of 10 years before I got it..I'm going to replace the serpentine belt and radiator hoses but I was curious about the difference between the hose with the spring in it(which is whats on it) and the ones without the spring which seems to be what most stores have...do I need to find a replacement with the spring or will I be ok to buy one without?

Also if anyone has suggestions on things that may be prone to failure on these cars during long trips I would appreciate any advice, I'd rather check things here than fix it on the road

No coolant hoses anymore have springs. Some of the GM hoses have springs, but some don't.

Just put the old spring in the new hose.

You can put the old spring in the new hose. While not necessary if it gives you peace of mind why not.
