I got an 89 coupe. The passenger side headlight motor won't open or close sometimes. I can pop the hood and the manual **** is tight as heck. If I loosen it a turn to free it up and hit the switch again the motor will close or open the door. I am not sure if its a motor problem because the motor runs fine. I have lubed the underneath the **** thinking it's a binding problem. Like the motor runs too long and gets so bound up that it can't run in either direction. BUT it never fails. If I untighten it a bit it runs fine a few times. Does anyone understand that maze of linkages and brackets and stuff enough to tell me what the problem is. It's so embarrassing to have one headlight either in or out. HELP!

Re: Headlight Motor Problems (jer35073)
Contact your favorite Corvette parts supplier and order two bushing kits.
Yes I said two bushing kits. They are $5 - $7 each. Repair both motors as soon as you get the kits. This is a common problem, the bushings literally turn to dust.
OBTW - I didn't follow my own advice and only fixed the one that was "lazy" now I have to fix the other one.
The bushings are the probable cause of the problem, but you need to burnish the armature and/or contacts while you have it apart. If turning the **** (with the connector in place) causes it to move, then the contacts could be dirty.
