Default Homemade window guide tool

So my window guide broke as they all seem to on my 94 LT-1. Got the part in from the dealer and was faced with the problem of getting the old one off without the proper tool.

I believe it's called a pin wrench. You can find them on line for under 5 bucks but I didn't want to wait.

So, I got a wire hanger out of my closet and fashioned one from that.
I made two cuts on the hanger so I had a v-shaped wire.
Then put the ends about a 1/4 inch into a vice, tightened it and bent the hanger over at a 90 degree angle.

The next problem I encountered was space to get my hands in there with the tool.
To solve this I put my homemade tool into the vice and made another 90 degree bend. By doing this I was able to slip the tool behind the flat nut with my hand still outside of the door. I then put my 10mm socket on and voila!

It worked like a charm, didn't cost me anything and I didn't have to wait on delivery.

I took some pictures but don't know how to attach.

I'm trying to do this, and nothing. That thing won't budge. I spent hours on it yesterday and can't break that bold free. I might have to break down and order that wrench but I can't find that special tool for under $45.

I couldn't get the wire hanger idea to work. Turns out someone had put some threadlock on the bolt. It wouldn't budge using the wire hanger.

I finally went to Harbor Frieght and found a $3.99 answer,
http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-to...eads-3316.html

These pliers had interchangeable heads, so when I took the head off, there were two prongs that perfectly fit into the two slots on the back of that guide assembly. To make things better, I could give it a little squeeze to really get a grip. The bolt came right off, the new guide went in, and now the window is working fine.

All's well that ends well.
