Hi,
This is my 1st time post on how to diagnose my LH Power Window Switch(s). I am checking this with a OHM meter for continuity.
My RH window works but my LH works intermittently/not at all.
Thanks,
92WhiteVetteGuy
My 87 window switches have 5 wires for two single pole double throw switches. Ign off, you should see low resistance between the pink wire (power) and the brown wire in down position and between the pink wire and dark blue wire in the up position. You should see low resistance between either black wire and both the dark blue and brown wire with the window switch not activated. Wire color may be different on your 92.

change the window motor .... does it move a bit then stop and keep repeating this?
Hey Jeff,
Removed the Motor-Regulator and partially disassembled the motor. Lots of corrosion present. Are their brush sets/rebuild kits avaialble for these or can I only buy a new motor?
I appreciate the speedy reply.

you can buy a cheap motor and put the new electrical parts on your old motors transmission and not have to drill out the rivets. It is easy to do! did this on my 90 and the motors work perfectly now.

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for the amazingly fast reply with pics no less.
You made mention of a cheap motor you must mean aftermarket vs. OEM?

yes. I bought mine for 80 shipped of the bay. Basically all you do is remove 3 torx screws and that rectangular cover comes off. Once removed turn the commutator counter clockwise and it will come out of the transmission. the brush holder/electrical connector come out as a unit and you may have to pry on it a bit to get it out.
then when you get apart slip new brush holder over the new commutator and hold the brush holder while you spin the commutator back into the old transmission. Its pretty idiot proof the commutator will screw in so far and its in position when the regulator starts moving. when it does then press the brush holder/electrical connector back in place and bolt the cover back on.
If you motor has any slop there is a adjustment screw on the motor to fix that.

So does the window move like a inch and then stop and after it sits a minute it will again repeat this?
This is what my 1990 did, drivers worked perfectly the fsm says one of the last tests is pulling the electrical connector off the motor itself and see if power is being switched there. if it is replace motor.
basically you will see
blue positive
brown negative for say up and reversed for say down.
If it does none of that then fsm says replace switch .... also on my 90 unless the driver side switch is plugged in the passenger side will never work
