Default vacuum leak sound

i know this sounds dumb, but i just bought my 93 coupe and its making a super loud sucking noise from the passenger side rear of motor almost as loud as the intake makes, i cant tell where its coming from,,is it normal or what, it runs and idles fine and no codes. maybe its normal.. thanks dan

I don't think it's normal. Hold a piece of rubber tubing to your ear and move the other end around near the sound to isolate the area.

How do your brakes feel? I think the vacuum hose for the brake booster goes around the back to the intake somewhere around there. I can't remember... but it is a big hose and it would make a very loud hiss if it was leaking!

You definately have a vacuum leak and if you have a scanner your IAC will be pegged at zero trying to bring it down and you will definately be running extremely lean at idle. Throttle response will also suffer.
I used ether (sp?) to find mine. Propane seemed to be to hard to pinpoint.

Ether or carb cleaner works great to find vacuum leaks. Just take a can of either one and spray around where you think the leak should be and when you notice a change in idle you have found your leak. Pretty simple.
