I used a tap that went all the way to the bottom, one of those would work the best but this isn't as critical as the head bolts. As long as the bolt goes in without resistance .Just remember to use a sealant on the intake bolts or they will leak..WW

with Pete K. Remember you are just cleaning the threads, not re-tapping.

i cleaned all the threads out or so it thought, turns out i missed one of the center bolt holes on the driver side. i didnt figure it out untill i already had the intake in place and bolts going in so i messed with it and got it in without crossthreading it. i put #2 on the first 1/4 of the bolt threads and then torqued them in to spec. i hope it doesnt leak. any way to check for leaks before i bolt it all back up? or is it just a cross your fingers kind of thing

What's #2... a sealer? A sealer is required.

I think the sensor you asked about above is your cold start sensor (CSS).

you can grind the bottom of a standard tap to be flat, just don't relive all of the taper on th tap lead

Also, do not use an "oversize i.e. .005" over tap" because we generally use these for holes in materials that will be hardened or plated

No...all bolts should be 35lbs. It's pretty much based on the fastener size -- which is all the same. MORE IMPORTANTLY, gasket pressue should also be the same across it's entire surface. I'd remove and do it again if that's what you did. It would be hard for me to say you can get away with doing all 12 bolts at 45lbs. I don't want you to strip a bolt/bolt hole!

For sealer, I tried a double whammy. I put teflon paste on the lower half of the bolts. On the upper half, I used clear silicone. I figured the former would assist in removal and the later would ooze out to form a final seal w/o creating a visual distraction.
