Fuel Pump help **PLEASE**
OK, vette sat for about 8 month went to start and nothing, noticed the Fuel Pump did not come of for 2 sec when key was turned so took it out and replaced it and strainer and she fired right up.
Put it in the garage and the next day went to start and the same exact thing...no pump. I bypassed the fuel pump relay by applying voltage directly to terminal G of the ALCL and nothing so figured maybe I got a bad pump.....I removed it and put direct 12V and it did zilch.
Soooo...I go and get another pump....presto cranks right up. Later the same day go to start and nothing #$@%&.

I put a meter on the connection at the tank turned the key and get the 12V for about 2 sec, I then put voltage directly to the pin going to the fuel pump and nothing from the pump.
I find it hard to believe I got two bad pumps.....If the relay was shorting out could the blow the pump? I would think the fuse would go as well.
I'm so frustrated and at a loss and suggestions and help would be welcome.
Thanks
Mike
If the fuel pump relay is working correctly (~two second's worth of power to the fuel pump at startup), check the 12V positive output at the fuel pump connection.
If that's okay (meaning no loose or broken wiring connection from the relay to the pump), check your common ground on the fuel tank. It's exposed to the elements and tends to form insulating rust. If rusty, clean it up, make sure it's tight, and you should be good to go.
As far as fuel pumps go, it's unusual to have two go bad in a row; however, I prefer using high end products from Bosch, Delphi, or Denso. (Don't enjoy replacing parts within a year or so of installation!)
Good luck!
the tip-off is usually signs of heat - showing on the wire insulation right at the crimp joint to the spare connector..
Can't hurt to also take a good look at the wire harness weathertite connector for the fuel pump and sender as well.

I bought the fuel pumps from Autozone (Airtech)
