You could have it all welded up then just cut it if and when you need to remove the headers. Or you could go to a muffler shop and have some pipes sized to fit . Good luck
I'll have it welded up for sure

Also, does anyone know of a site rather than TPiS where I can get TPiS headers from? I really don't like entering credit card info and would much rather use paypal

So call them instead,,,unless you're worried about giving up your CC over the phone. However, unless they've changed their policies, they don't destroy CC info once you give it to them. When I bought something last year, I called a few wks later to get something else. They said we don't need your CC again, we still have it.

The best thing I can think of though,,,if you REALLY want to use paypal to buy there headers is to ask them to send you an invoice after calling in your order. Because they put items on ebay, they probably would accept that.

OTOH, PayPal fees are at least DOUBLE what credit card company charge. CC companies charge about 2.5% for a transaction. OTOH, PayPal charges 3% for the transaction PLUS ANOTHER 3% TO PUT IT IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT FOR YOU!

That means you'd be asking TPIS to "eat" $22.50 just to accept payment by paypal. So, if you ask them to do it, you'll know why IF they charge you extra.

Well here's my situation. I'm 17, so I don't have a CC or Paypal account, I have to use my dad's, and then I just pay him in cash. He REFUSES to give out CC info on the internet, so I'm in a bit of a bind here

Each?

Quick answer:
I don't think ANYONE should pay that much for cats.

Dude, I REALLY wish I could remember the post where I saw a link THAT I THOUGHT was $190/pr. Maybe it wasn't RT? But, over $100 each is too friggin' high IMO.

I also have to wonder about the "Thunderbolt" line of high flow (bullet) cats on eBay going rediculously cheap.

If you can find me a set of HFC's for $190, I'll be ecstatic

Have any cat doesn't guarantee passing emissions. FWIW, it may take a CARB cat if your state adopts CA-style checks. (That's the visual part).

Sniffer is another deal. I talked the ears off a Magnaflow tech today and learned a few things. Ceramic is usually 400 cells/inch and their metal is usually 200 cell/inch. Metal out-flows ceramic by about 100cfm. But, their numbers sounded too low for each (350cfm ceramic/450 metal).

Their metal units cost more because they have a thicker coating (wash) that's able to do as good/better than their ceramic models. For example, their 53006 2.5" round ceramic cat is rated to "clean" a 4.3L motor, flows 350cfm, and is 400cells/inch. But their 59000 series metal spun cats flow 100cfm more thru 200cells/inch. AND...they're rated to "clean" a bigger 6.2L motor. So,,,they supposidely flow more and clean more -- but with a higher price tag. More precious metal inside does the job according to desk jockeys.

OTOH, a webside called catalyticconverter.org says there's no such thing as a high-flow cat. IOW, the more it flow, the less it cleans. Since all high-flow cats are non-CARB certified, it may be difficult-to-impossible to judge how much "cleaning" you get as your flow goes up. A better question might be where your $180 per cat might not be that much cleaner that NOT using cats at all.

This is a tough decision for me too.

BTW....I found the link to the $189/pr cats I was thinking of. But it was for Pypes brand cats. http://www.corvetteguys.com/pypes-ce...ytic-cats.html

Why do you NEED new cats? Are you JUST looking for more power? Not many people have complained about the exhaust system on the LTx cars -- especially when unmodified (like your profile indicates).

In reviewing flow requirements for a 300HP motor, Vizzards' formulas would indicate 300 x 2.2cfm flow requirements for exhaust. That's 660cfm. So, your cats really don't need to flow more than the 400 cell/in converters. Since they flow about 350cfm,,,, (350 x 2 = 700cfm)

By paying the (signficantly) extra money for RT cats, I'm not convinced you'd see enough add'l gain to warrant the price. Notice those are most often demanded by HIGH hp and/or FI applications.

I wonder if your $400 wouldn't be better spent elsewhere.

The O2 sensor bung is in the header near the collector. Make sure when you order the headers that they have the bungs already in place.

Yep...some kids are pretty spoiled. They don't value money especially if someone else is forking it over.
