Bad Clutch Hose?
Here's the symptoms: The clutch will release and allow me to slip it into gear without grinding if I pump the clutch pedal a bunch of times, but even after the pumping, if I just hold the clutch on the floor it eventually backs off. Could this be caused by a mushy, worn out clutch hose? I'm going to try a few of the other bleeding tips I've found on here to see if that helps but feel free to chime in if you know of one that would deal with this type of problem. I'm hoping it's not a bad replacement master, since that pretty much means the car is getting trailered to where it will be stored instead of driven and I'll have to deal with this when I get back from Afghanistan in Apr 2012.
BTW the car is an 85 with a TKO500 kit installed.
Thanks!
Bill
Just went through the same thing. Replace Master and Slave. There are a few little secrets to bleeding these things. The one that worked for me was raising the rear of the car higher that the front allowing the air to move to the rear of the slave thus making it easer to bleed. I was hung up on this issue until I put the backend up another 4-6 inches. Now the clutch is solid as a rock. I am doubtful you have a mushy hose... Be careful over there!
