Default How long do you let oil go?

How many months do you go before changing oil/filter?
I go 3000 miles.

In the vette w/Mobil 1 I'll go 5000 miles if I haven't been racing since I'm just putting stupid amounts of highway miles on it each month. If I have been racing, then it's 3000 or less if I burned some.

In non-synth cars I change it ever 3000.

As for the filter, I'll change it every other time if highway miles were the majority of the mileage since the last change. Otherwise off it comes too.

I have an '88 GMC truck that has 250,000 miles. I change the oil once a year. That's about every 15,000 miles. People think that's crazy but the engine purrs like a kitten.

My Vettes get new oil every 5k miles whether they need it or not.

I do about 3000-3500 miles on Mobile 1 on the Vette. When I change I save the oil and run it through the beater because it leaks a bit. Cheap, ain't I?? :yesnod:

Every 3000 miles or when the oil turns dark, which ever come first.

I try to be near 3000 miles during changes. Sometimes a little under.

Mobil 1 is the choice.

Oil's cheap, it's an easy job to do, and I like changing it because it's something I can do in this age where people have forgotten basic skills like this in favor of quicklube joints.

I change the oil out about once a month. :D I change the filter every three months. The guys at the AutoZone recycling counter love me.

Yeah, I overdo it. So what - everyone needs a hobby. My car is my only real hobby now - the others are just habits. Or is that backwards...?

I change mine between three to five thousand miles. Lately, I change it seasonaly because the Vette doesn't get that much mileage in the summer season.

I change mine ever 3000-3200 miles since the car only sees hard city driving miles which includes alot of wheel spinning and stop and go traffic from redlight to redlight. :smash:

If I waited every 3000 miles I would be on my 3rd oil change in 8 years, yup I don't drive enough, but its not all my fault.

Every 100 hours, as per the FAR regulations.

Which means you haven't changed it since 1991? :D (You have a 91 vette, you change the oil every 100 hours, it's showing 32.9...oh...nevermind. )

To all of you that change Mobile 1 every month or every 3K miles, please send me your 'used' oil for my other vehicles!

Shoot, I remember when Mobile first started advertising Mobile 1 synthetic oil - 25K miles between oil changes. :yesnod: I think they stopped advertising that because people wouldn't even check their oil level throughout the year!!!

I started doing changes in the other cars every 6 months (~10K miles). The Vette? The new wife used to have her Dad change it, and he's pretty religious about changes, but he didn't use synthetic

My block was replaced in November (thank you State Farm - got stuck in some flood waters) and I've put about 3K miles on it since. I'm getting ready to convert it to Mobile 1.
