Changed my stock mufflers for Corvette Central Exhaust eliminators. Here's the result.
Nice and clean underneath, but pissed off by the way the tips don't line up horizontally:
And heres the sound (First half of the clip is all stock - and sorry for the lousy picture quality, forgot to change camera ISO setting. Second half is with muffler eliminators):
I have something similar in my -86 and I really like the sound. Come winter and I will get rid of the pre-cats and replace the main cat with a performance one. Should sound even better then.

I have an 84 and it took a little time, but I was able to get mike perfectn Did you try loossening the clamps and twisting them around? I think that I even used my floor jack and wood blocks to get them lined up before tightening the clamps. I also replaced the rear Y pipe with the Corvette Central one with the balance pipe.
The 84 only has the main cat, which I changed out for a HP magnaflow Cat -and it sounds real sweet.

It looks like to me you could twist the pipes counterclockwise on the left and clockwise on the right at the joints, and flatten the angle of the tips..

Thx for the feed back. But I tried that. Even with a floor jack and some wood blocks. But it doesn't work. Both the joints at the old pipes and the rear end fittings are too fixed. The rear end is some 15 mm too low compared to the original, and that can be corrected by a new hole. Need to weld shut the old one first, and I think this is aluminum so I can't do it myself, though. That may improve the angle some. But I agree in taking the problem to an exhaust shop. We have a very good one not too far from here.

Thx again for all your tips.
I had uneven exhaust tips on my Cadillac when I got it. The 2 outlets on the right side didn't line up, probably bent after hitting something. To fix it, I used something in my garage that was lying around for years, "The Club." I inserted an end into the pipe and bent it to where I wanted it to be. Worked like a charm and the cushion on the handle gave good grip. Who knew it was actually good for something.

I would definately take it to a muffler shop; someone reputable can help the asthetics for you
Mine w/ the muffler delete sounds incredible...one of best sounding cars I have heard (outside of the wail of a Lambo or Ferrari at full throttle...those Italians have the sound down pat!)
I just had muffler eliminators installed on my 93 . In order to get the one side to line up, the installer had to cut a slit in the factory mount so he could just push the muffler up to align it .
Mine had the rectangle exhaust tips which I like the look of. I remember at the shop I hovered over the welder to make sure they looked perfect. I remember I was using a tape measure to check distance from top of tip to frame & one looked a "hair" off to the eye because of the fiberglass rear was a tiny bit warped along the tip cutouts. Any good shop should be able to straighten tips for just a few bucks. Enjoy!
