Default Racing Fuel ?

In our area some 76 stations sell 105 octane racing fuel. I think Sunoco might do the same in other areas. The stuff is pretty expensive, but it is available.

My question is does this stuff have lead in it? AND is is okay to run some of it a catalytic converter equipped engine?

Our local Sunoco sells 100 Unleaded ($7.00 a gallon)and 110 leaded. O2 sensors and Cats don't like leaded fuels. You will ruin the sensors. Not sure about 105. 100 octane is about the highest unleaded I'm aware of currently available at the pumps. I was told by a fuel vendor(Vp) at the last NHRA event I attended that they do sell a higher unleaded octane gas you can buy from them by the drum or can but it's not sold at the pump. Don't remember the octane rating though. I think it might have been 105.

It should say whether or not the fuel is leaded...

If it does have lead, it is 100% NOT safe for sensors and catalytic converters. Coats them and leaves them about 0% effective.

I dont see much point in using it unless you have a lot of compression. If you do, its a good way to get the most out of your motor.

Read the label on the pump to be sure.
