Backup lights
MY first time on here. I bought 1995 vette. Car perfect except the back up lights don't work. Put new bulbs in rear by license plate. Side markers i didn't change yet. So my question is will lights work if one is burnt out. And has anyone had trouble with Switch. Mine is a mannual Trans. Any help would be apreciated.

Yea, the switch is a common problem. I still haven't replaced mine yet and its been bad for 4 years
I just finished taking out the backup switch from my ZF Transmission. I had to remove the clutch slave to get to it. I have power to the switch so I removed the switch and checked it with my ohmmeter. It checked good. So I put it back. Now I am bleeding the clutch system. Removing the slave to get to the switch is not a bad job. The only wrench I could get on the switch was an off set box (7/8s, I thnk). Eckler shows a replacement switch with a pigtail to the connector. I found the switch to be similar and probably the 88 and before swicth without the pigtail, if that helps.
I had the same problem a few years ago. I pulled all of the bulbs from the back up and side marker lights on the rear. Replaced all bulbs - be hit all the sockets with a shot of contact cleaner. Then I squirted some dielectric grease into the sockets and installed the lights. Then everything worked. Turns out one of the bulbs was actually burned out. It just didn't look like it on first inspection.
Before you go replacing your switch, you might want to just try cleaning it up with some DeoxIT:

This is very popular stuff with electric guitar/amp and custom audio technicians.

I'm going to replace the clutch/flywheel/master/slave this winter, I'll have them fix the backup lights then. Should be easy since everything will be out.
