Default Getting arking...

Checked my plugs and wires in the dark and I'm getting an ark but I can't tell if the ark is coming from the opti or the plugs. It looks like they are both arking, but I can't tell if the opti is reflecting on some of the plugs or if the bad plugs or wires are making the opti ark. All the plugs, wires and opti are new (it's a dyna spark opti vented - and I've contacted dyna spark and explained the problem and they will replace it with a new opti before I even pull the old one out - if it is bad.) I've heard horror stories about the msd opti spark and that they do not warranty them. Can anyone tell me how to trace this down better before I go through taking out this opti spark again...

Sounds like bad wires to me. The stock Delco/Packard ignition wires are rated for 60,000 miles maximum service life. If you have more than that on 'em, time to swap 'em out. Replace the plugs, too. I like NGK TR-55 in the Double Platinum flavor.

Swap out the wire looms and holders, too, as the O.E.M. ones have gotten brittle from age and engine heat and will crack as you go to remove them. You can order them online from Mid-America Motorworks (MAM).
