when they introduced the vert again in mid 86, all verts of that year had AL heads. Coupes after around #18,000 in 86 had AL heads.

Will the 86 alum. heads go on a 84 block?

I wondered what year they started putting on the alum. heads b/c I want to convert my 84' to a TPI sytem. I was just gonna buy the TPI, but I'm starting to think about buying a crate motor if I can scrape up the money. If not I might try and find a used engine that's in good shape, so that's why I wanted to now about the heads. Couldn't tell you whether the heads would fit on an 84' block.

You'll also need a new ECM and wiring harness along with some sensors. There's quite a bit more involved than just a head change.

The L98 aluminum heads fit the earlier sbc 350's. The TPI fits all the old iron heads as well.
