Default Should I get Hedman Headers?

I have a crossfire with L98 heads. Anyone have a part number from Hedman for the cheapest header? (i.e. No powdercoating, etc.) I looked them up online and they have 1 header for 84-92??? The 84 and 85 heads are completely different! ??? I would like to order them for the L98 Heads and a definate part number from someone who has them would be appreciated! :)

Thanks!

The padock sells them for something like $250. I have heard about some quality issues with the headman headers though. They could have fixed those issues by now though.

I thought I had read that the cross-fires had the same junk 624 heads as the 85's had, but I could be wrong.

I had an 84 Vette and ordered the Hedman headers from Summit, but never installed them, as I sold the car later. However, the headers looked like decent parts, but there was no AIR tubes (I wasn't going to use them) and there is no provision for an O2 sensor. You would have to have one welded in the collector.

They seemed to be fairly decent, though.

And as for the heads, I believe the 85 had 624 (junk) heads too.

Hedman only makes 1&5/8" tube headers for your car. If you don't plan any significant cubic inch increases or mods that will make a high rpm screamer out of it, the 1&5/8" are ideal. Part no. 68440 doesn't have provisions for smog hook ups. Part no. 68441 does. If you want to compare coated prices with painted, add a "-6" to either no. for coated headers. Have fun.

I bought some Hedman 68440's for my '84. I have an extra set of '88 L98 heads that I'm going to have CNC ported at the same place that did my conv. heads. The headers I bought are by no means of the same quality of the Hookers I have on my '88 conv. They will however work for my project. I'm going to cut the smog trees off the stock exhaust manifolds and weld them on the Hedman's. The Hedmans are guaranteed and should hold up fine for many years. Sure they're not coated and the paint will start peeling off as soon as they get hot, but they will last quite a while. Until I get my big block done, these will work fine for my grenade project. :D
