Default Underhood lite problem

I just bought a 1995 convertible. Under the hood it has 2 lites on the hood. They won't turn on. I checked the bulbs and no go. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

The fuse was probably pulled? Have you checked it?

Most owners either unplug the connector, or take the fuse out.
The lights operate on a mercury switch, and will come with the hood up. They are not on a timer, so if you leave the hood up long enough it will drain your battery.

So, first check to make sure the connectors are plugged in. There is one on each side down by the headlights. Just follow the wire from the lights until you get to the connector.
If they are plugged in, check the fuse. It's located on the drivers side front, down next to the side marker light.

I unplugged mine 12 years ago. Maybe someone did the same on yours, or maybe it has a hidden switch.

I would first check the plug with a test light, trace the wires down to the bumper on a locater near the side marker on both sides. If you have power there next I would check the mercury type ball bearing size switches at one end of the bulb. hope this helps..

I leave my fuse disconnected and inserted into the little fuse holder (just one prong) until a time I need the underhood lights, then I just correctly plug in the fuse.

Just for record, look around in the area of the electric air pump on the drivers side forward for a 2 inch square black plastic box with a minature toggle switch. This is a kit from MAMW that allows the lites to be turned off. The actual penitration to the ckt is on the right side forward and a flex tube runs to the otherside to this switch. I had one on my 95 when I purchased it.
