it is designed to reduce the "echo" in the exhaust...
the powerpulse in the V8 is not perfect, and the resonator smooths it out. without it, the exhaust would be real annoying!

Helps to cut down on interior resonant frequencies....seems that people who spend 35K on a car want it to sound like a Lexus. :rolleyes:
