Default Crossfire replacement

I'm 110% NEW TO CORVETTES having never even owned a Chevy! Just bought an 84 Vette BUT, the previous had ditched all the Crossfire stuff and stuck an Edelbrock Performer intake and Quadrajet with elec. plugs on it that aren't even hooked up, from what I'm told an L89 camshaft, and 1.6 rollertip rockers.

I couldn't be more Vetteignorant if I tried so please bear with me. Is 84 the only year for Crossfire? I would LIKE to go back to the Crossfire setup but don't necessarily have to. Are there any other vehicles I could swipe the FI setup from that'd be a relatively easy swap? Any and ALL help would be much appreciated!

The 82's also had the crossfire. There is a seller near you (East Coast) who is advertising 84 parts right now. He PM'd me that he has most all of the induction parts.

The crossfire is a great setup and is much-maligned by people who don't understand it - like your previous owner.

Check my signature for links to my personal website and info about the crossfire setup. I'll be happy to share all the info with you that I have.

Do some research on the CFI, they are very reliable and are a great car to learn on. You can't just take a FI set up and install in a be done. The CFI uses only 2 injectors and the ecm controls that. The stock ecm can't control 8 injectors.

As for me I've gotten good gains by using the CFI. Last run down a track with it I ran a 13.3 @99. Thats almost a 2 second gain over stock. Fortunetly I fell into a bit a luck and have recently done the conversion to 8 injectors. I'll leave that alone as to not overwhelm you.

Do some searches throughout the forums and you will find a ton of information as to what you can do with it.

Good luck with your quest!

FYI- as long as the previous owner did not hack the wiring harness you can easily convert it back.

There you go! Sorry for not linking you two directly.

I bought a couple of things from Bill already and was very happy with the transaction - great guy to deal with!
