Major repairs on car.
1) With the 4+3 tranny out, I rotated the output shaft and notice a hesitation in the overdrive section, the tranny has a play of 1 or 2 degrees, not sure if this is normal or I'm a looking into rebuilding the OD.
2) When I moved to a new residence, I had the vette trailored to her new garage, and after many pushes and turning the wheels to align the car in the corner (couldn't start the car due to some parts removed), there was a very odd and not-so-good sound coming from the steering rack- couldn't pinpoint the sound, then I noticed about a couple weeks later that there was a large puddle of steering fluid underneath. Do I need a new rack&pinion or could it be turning the wheels without the car running caused it to overflow or leak( though I doubt this is it but I'm hoping)
Any comments or help or even hello's would help!! Thanks
Seth
But I moved my car without the engine running, buy towing it with a John Deere Gator, and it blew power steering fluid all over the underside of the hood. I would definitely look for whatever made the sound, but the leak probably isn't a leak, just an overflow.
With the hood open on mine, I moved the wheels so I could get at the distributor, and it shot p/s fluid at least six feet in the air.
Good luck with your transmission project.
