I had the vette out today and it was running fine all day. Weather was very hot. 90's with high humidity. I started noticing some hesitation from the motor and it acted like it was going to stall. A short while later on the way home it started sputtering and wouldn't take fuel and I had to pull off the road. It would sputter a few seconds then stall. It would start right back up but still wouldn't take any fuel and then stall. I let it sit for about 10 minutes and tried again and it started right up and ran fine. I got 10 minutes down the road and it did it gain and I had it towed home. When I got it home and off the tow truck it started right up again and ran fine to get it in the garage and that's where I left it for now.
So my question is what are the most likely causes? Water in the gas, fuel pump and/or filter, fuel pressure regulator etc.
I appreciate any direction u all can send
my way. Thanks
no use guessing here, from your information it could be spark, fuel, throttle body, ignition. But to guess, I say your injectors are going bad if ALL tune up work is current
I've responded to threads just like yours many times, sometimes I was right, other times I was off. My '85 started doing that shortly after I got it. Only on a day when the temps were above 80 it would act exactly as you describe. I tried everything imaginable when an old mechanic suggested that it could be the ECM acting up when it got hot. I had nothing else to try so I got another computer, the problem stopped immediately! The computer was getting hot inside and was causing the problem. What I would do before spending any money is get an ice pack or some such thing that you can place next to the computer to keep it cool. Take the car out & see if it still acts up. If not then you have the problem nailed without spending any money, (except for having to buy another computer)

Check the impedience of all your injectors, it will take you 10 min.
If they are bad, it will be low
low impedience is more load on the SCR's in the ECU, which is heat in the ECU.
Also you have to decide when the last time a fuel filter and/pump have been changed.
I would suspect it to be ECU or injectors. Fuel pumps dont typically quite while driving and if it was the filter it wouldnt fix itself when you let it sit.
My 86 is doing the same thing. I would check the fuel pressure first. Then check the cat and see if it's plugged. Those are the two most likely causes. I'm gonna check my cat next, as I have replaced everything else...
