Default MAP Vs MAF

All of the discussion on MAP vs MAF is pretty interesting.
It seems that the maf sensors are maxing out at higher rpm's.(255)
That tells me you need a bigger maf.
Go to http://www.pro-flow.com/main.htm
this company makes any size air flow meter you want.
You purists might want to know up front that these airflow meters are made for FORDS,but they flow better than anything else on the market.
The output of these mafs are 0-5v,but have higher impedance outputs.
That means you will have to buffer the output,or change the pullup resistor
in the ECM from 1k to 10k ohm.
You will also need to disable the line of code in the program that checks for burnoff complete or it will set an error code.
This company will also custom calibrate the units for your particular airflow requirements and injector sizes.

You are missing the point. The computer on the 85-89 is limited to working with an 8bit value: 0-255. You can make the MAF flow more than 255 g/s. My stock MAF was. Unless you want to change the actual code and calculations, you have to fudge it beyond 255. Changing to a higher flow MAF wont fix this.

But I think if the Maf were to read over a greater span.. were the 0-255 was a wider range it would work.. I think anyway.
I am going to speed density.. the earlier MAF ECM restrictions are the main problem. Maybe with the newer type MAF were the #'s get scewed or something to the ECM would work..
