ignition key problem on 92 vette.
This is an unusual problem. The ignition key on my 92 vette is stuck in the on position. Any thoughts on what could have caused this and any thoughts on how to fix it?????

Mechanical. Acts as a lockout in the same way that the key would be locked from turning off in a car with an automatic transmission thats not in park.
Hold the button and wiggle the lock a little, maybe its just binding for some reason.

I recently had the ignition switch replaced in my '92. I have the old one... the button and locking mechanism are working properly. I just looked at it to see how it works. The button pushes down a spring-loaded pin that normally prevents the ignition cylinder from turning back to the off position. When the button is pushed in, the pin is pushed out of the way and the the switch can turn off. I can't see how this function would break or wear out, so your problem may be in the cylinder itself.
