actually started up once and then immediately died, after that it would crank but not start, I could smell gas though so I suppose it got flooded after that first time it died
Have you tried plugs and wires? What is the color of the flame? Obviously it is getting gas and we will leave that question for later. Have you tried clearing the flood mode by hitting the gas pedal all the way to the floor and crank?
what is that? the thing the white arrow is pointing at ..... pretty sure the PCV is on the other side right?
it was disconnected and hanging out this morning when my car wouldn't start..... any help is much appreciated
Unless a previous owner has modified your 89 pollution control system, that is the fresh air line going to the throttle body. (The PCV in the driver's side valve cover feeds crankcase vapors to the engine while the fresh air line provides replacement air so that you don't develop a vacuum within the crankcase.)
If the fresh air feed was disconnected, it shouldn't effect the engine start even if the resultant opening in the valve cover was plugged. Did you post your no start problems in another thread on the forum?
