Got a real quick question. When a clutch is at the end of its usefull life will the clutch engage at a point right off the carpet or right at the top of the pedal travel?

Pedal let out, or travel, is not a direct indication of clutch wear. The pedal in our Corvettes tend to engage in a high position. Mine only has about 5K on it and it does that.
Usually it will engage higher when wearing down, but like he said, pedal travel (in vehicles with hydraulic clutches) is NOT a direct indication of wear. It will slip when it really needs to be replaced.
My 92 engages very high. Hydraulics are good, no chatter, clutch doesn't slip at all, not even a tiny bit.
I should have included in the post that all the clutch hydralics are new, properly installed and the system properly bled. The clutch arm bushing on the master cylinder is new as well. The clutch engages just off the carpet (aprox 1/2"). Maybe this will help with the question.
Hmm...when my slave cylinder shot craps (was leaking fluid badly) it was engaging right off the floor, then eventually there was no clutch at all.....after I had the hydraulics replaced (new slave cylinder) the clutch engages near the top of the travel.......
