Default Part source headache

Hey all,

So my 95 c4 has been without a headlight for the past few months, mostly thanks to my laziness, and inability to find the part I need online. I ended up taking it to a local shop who quoted me $780 because its an "expensive corvette part" No Thanks!

The problem is the bracket that attaches the headlight motor to the car has snapped somehow, leaving the motor hanging free. It still spins fine, and the entire main headlight assembly is fine, but obviously nothing works without the motor being mounted right. I can actually wedge the motor in (but the part that accepts screws is gone) and the headlight sits closed just fine. I called my local GM service place and they kindly tried to figure out which part I needed. The guy seemed to understand and said i needed part# 16500351 (see here) which only a dealership in TX has on hand.
I thought he might have got it right at first because the msrp of ~$300 made the original shop estimate a lil more realistic, but after I checked the vette recycling/salage sites and ebay, im not sure that its actually what I need.

After some ebaying I stumbled upon this here which appears to be exactly what I need. I don't have the car near me to confirm, but I remember my working side wasn't a very complex bracket like in my first link. Further evidence came from the only other bracket on ebay, here The photo in that auction appears (i think!) to have the linkage bolt connected that attaches to the spinning arm of the motor to spin the headlights. This would make it the part I need, I believe. Both those auctions are for passanger side brackets, and of course, I need drivers side. One of the auctions lists the part as #16510052, which is the expensive ENTIRE actuator. I guess they never sold the brackets individually?

Anyway, i'm wondering if anyone can chime in with which part to go for, and how to source it or retrofit something to work.

Thanks!
-F

Why not try a Forum vendor like Corvette Recycling or someone like Vette2Vette who knows what they are doing. On FleaBay you can get screwed trying to match up parts.

I emailed vette recycling first and actually found vette2vette thru ebay. None of the recycling/salvage sites sell just the bracket. I think GM never sold them separate from the actuator so my choices are crazy slim. I'm emailing some people on craigslist right now about c4's their parting out.

...and hoping that this bracket is indeed the only thing I need haha
