I wan to verify with the experts before I start hacking away.
My airtek fuel pumped died again on me, so I decided to upgrade to a Bosh fuel pump. The problem is that the wiring is not an exact match. I can easily splice the two wires together using solder and shrink wrap to cover it up. Does anyone see a problem with this or should I return the Bosh?
Depends on whcih bosch pump we are talking about. I have the largest in tank bosch available (through TPIS, 350 gph), I cut the wires made new soldered connections. Additionally I cut the original pick up tube, flaired it for an fittings, so I could run a new hard line to the pump inlet iinstead of using a rubber line with clamps provided.
Okay, done. I spliced the wiring to the new Bosh piggy tail, using solder and shrink tubing. Everything started up perfectly and the gas tank did not blow up.
On a side note: The Highway Patrol was very happy I got my vette back on the road.
