When i turn on the headlight the headlight spins and once it at open the motor keeps spinning then stops. same thing when i turn them off. it spins to close then motor keeps going then stops. their is no grinding noise whats so ever. is their a timing or adjustment? only the passanger side does it.
Probably a sign that the motor needs new bushings - the old ones rot out and disintegrate. The part is cheap, but it will take a couple of hours to do the job. Search for headlight bushing, there's lots of info on here.
You can get the 3 bushings at any auto parts store. Ask for the ones Ford used in their power windows for years, about $4 for all three. Here is a link that will help: http://home.comcast.net/~zrjuan/headlight.html
I think the motor has a control timer where it cuts power after it stops. I would never just do the bushings. When I did it, I bought 2 sets although 1 headlight was having the problem.
It would open fully and the motor keep going for a few seconds and when you shut it, same thing after it was fully closed. Changed one and then the other. When I did the "good" one, I found that all the bushings were already elongated and starting to break. Both plastic gears changed to bronze gears. I don't want to do it half assed so I went with bushings and gears.
