OK, well I was driving around today and I heard a noise like the cooling fans went on. I checked the temps and it was only 210F so I parked the car and got out to see whats up. I found out that the fuel filler was vibrating and was pretty hot to the touch... It is making a loud fuel pump sound... Here is the video:
I also tested the fuel pressure and it goes up to 40psi no problem and holds for a while...
Any thoughts? I will probably take out the fuel pump and look, but I have class till late so...
Thanks guys

Mine was making the same noise on my 86. I pulled the unit out, and saw that the filter on the pump was in the bottom of the tank. This cause crap to build up in the metal screen on the pump itself, and eventually made it fail. I would check yours.
For whats it is worth try not to get under a 1/4 tank it is the gas that keeps the fuel pump cool and don't need to buy a new one. Also if it is the soc filter on the pick-up not that big of a =deal to pull the assembly out to fix.
So it sounds like a fuel sock issue? When I went to drive her today, there was no noise... I did run the tank down to the reserves then filled her up, but that was on Tuesday...
