I know this has probobly been asked a thousand times but, it just intereseted me. I'd like to know where to buy the best muffler eliminators. I posted in general but got no response. Any opinions will be appreciated.
Thanks Tim
You tend to find that most people just have an exhaust shop fabricate them. They can cut the tips off the stock mufflers and put them back with a straight pipe for usually a lot less than the "muffler eliminator" kits cost.
One more thing to think about, if you EVER plan on installing headers or otherwise removing your catastrophic converters the "eliminators" will be WAY too loud, you will need to put some type of muffler on it. A friend of mine put Hooker Long tubes on his 95, he already had no mufflers and no resonator. I can honestly say that the car sounds like a Semi truck, it's just plain terrible. He knows that and is going to buy some mufflers ASAP.
Yah I'm the one with the dump truck. :) Or was, I now have Hooker Aero-Chambers and I like the sound. I've went through a lot of exhaust variations. I had a muffler shop weld-in straight pipes for mufflers ($100), the I had straight pipe place in for the resonator ($50). It sounded good, well at least I liked it. Then I had Hooker LT's installed and it was loud and sounded like a truck. So now I have Hooker Aero-Chambers ($110 for mufflers, $60 Labor) and it sounds great, very smooth, it hums, and it's very agressive at WOT.
I think you could go with LT's and Muffler elims and live with it if you keep the resonator. :)
What do the aero-chambers sound like inside, worried about the dreaded resonance inside like a lot of mufflers seem to have. Looked on the web site, did you get the ones made for corvettes? (dual outlets with tips) or did you just get the standard one and put tips on yourself?
Just go to your local exhaust shop(I took mine to midas). Tell them to hack off the mufflers, they'll know what to do. They welded a sraight pipe to the stock tips.
The resonance is not bad at all. At first you notice the sound a lot, if you drive in a town. On the freeway I can bairly even hear the exhaust at all. I was supprised how fast I got used to actually hearing the exhaust, I want it louder now.
I did what everyone else on this thread did and went to a muffler shop. Just hack off the mufflers and throw some straight pipe there, I used my stock tips. Sound clips at my website if interested

They resonate, but I think every exhaust will. It's not that bad, I don't really think it would bother you that much, it just resonates around 2K. I bought the offset in, center out muffler from Jeg's, they're 50.99 a piece, and very nice quality. I like the way they sound, very smooth, but aggressive at WOT.
