Code 46 -- different situation, ?
I've check all the threads on the Code 46 and found a lot of information.
However, my situation is a little different and I was hoping someone could help me out.
1991 L98 auto, I replaced the entire steering column with one from a '96, "new" unit already had lock cylinder, key, etc. etc. was complete.
Now I try to start the car, nothing, codes reflect a code 46 nothing else.
Question(s); would changing the column (thus the ignition switch and key) cause the 46 code? or shouldn't it matter if the key and switch match?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
Joe
You need to purchase a new key with the key pellet value of your original key and
have the new key cut to match the key that came with the replacement steering column.
Here's the vats key resistance chart. There are 15 possible resistance values.
