Wow what a great question that was. I agree you have to pick your spots and I pretty much know the spots around here so Im good like that and although my avatar says 1991 I actually have a 1993 6 speed now that I purchased and it gets to speed pretty damn fast so Im not looking for any mods right now Im pretty damn happy with how the car performs and Im not reckless but definitely knowing when to get on it is important. Im getting to know the car now its been a week of driving it not much time and I did love my other car because I had built it and painted it but I am starting to like this car a lot now and its growing on me
Ill definitely make the trip with my car to do an autox race that sounds like fun and something to seriously consider. I really thought this was one dumb question but I have learned a lot by reading everyones response. The longer I won this car the more I love it. I dont think Ill ever own anything else and I had no intention of owning a corvette until some guy was selling my last one at a cheap price and now I cant see why id want anything else.
What happened to the 91?I remember the engine needed rebuilding,so did you sell it?Big power diff between the LT1 & L98?I gave a guy a ride in my vette & he said his was faster to 40mph,& he said his vette was a 1990Sorry to hijack:o
dont ask me how you should drive, cause the awnser id give you is not only unsafe, its against the rules of this forum.i bought a corvette to have a car to beat on the streets.tires=3000 or less miles,i can do a set of front ceramic brake pads in a month, and autozone warranties a set of front rotors every oil change.these cars beg to be pushed and for the money they are by far the greatest value for the buck.so when you ask if something is wrong with you because you want to drive your car, till you find the ragged edge,i have to say there is something wrong with those not wanting to.

Hi yeah I had the 1991 that I put a ton of work into and loved but two things where wrong with it that I did not like. One it was an automatic and two the motor ultimately blew a rod after I re did the head gaskets myself. That was the final straw not to mention I had painted it. I did get it for a good deal so its not like I lost a bunch at all. I actually wish it was an lt1 6 speed that I found for that price and painted that would have been heaven
Ok with respect to performance I can definitely say. Out of the hole with the automatic my L98 was pretty quick but it had dead spots and fell flat on its face in the higher rpm
As for my experience with my new car with the 6 speed there is no way my old car could ever outrun this car. This car gets up to speed fast and screams in the higher rpms doing it and from a a 50 or 60 MPH go at it, this LT1 would shred my old L98. My LT! is a much better driving experience and a very fast car. I loved the L98 but with no mods all other things being equal I doubt very much the L98 could take this car in a 1/4 and the farther it gets in the run the bigger the loss.

Lovely answer I feel normal now. After I let my brother out of the car he was like I will never own one of these cars. His reasoning was he thought hed kill himself in it lol . yeah I do like throwing the tail out every now and then lol I am really impressed with how it handles and I love the 6 speed. I can ride this car like no other with that combo man what a Joy. If I get antsy tonight I might just take it out or a ride. lol
Ok so this may sound like a dumb question but I need to ask how the majority of C4 owners drive their cars. I ask this because I find it very hard to drive my car normally. Im not reckless in anyway but I cant seem to help pushing the pedal at times and Im kind of worried about getting a ticket. This makes absolutely no sense when you think about it but maybe its because I just got the car running and its my first week of driving the car. I am hoping that as time goes on Ill tend to drive a little more reserved but lately I cant help but push it a little at times on the highway etc. Is this normal for most or do I have a problem lol and Im serious with respect to this question
Mikes1991 You should be driving a smart car instead of a vette so you dont crash at 100 MPH+ on public roads anymore. At speeds over 100 MPH you shouldnt be flipping people off either.

Mikes1991 just take a look at me one time and you will see why I have no compassion for ones like you who have no disreguard for others or the law. Hopefully and one can only hope that when you loose it driving like a jerk it is you paying the price and not some other person minding their on bussiness.
Go to the track, any type of racing really and youll find yourself driving normal speeds on the road. Strange but it works...no cops no tickets no loss of drivers license and its legal. Doesnt get better than that!
I autocross a lot and do track days when I can. For street driving, I will very seldom do more than 5 over. Now I may not shift into higher gears quickly on the street as the sound of the exhaust is better than listening to the radio.
I have a clean driving record and with two Corvettes and a truck to insure, I really don't want to spend any more on insurance than I have to.
Important things to remember when driving a Vette:
1)Do not attempt to occupy the same space at the same time with other cars, people, or objects.
2) Always keep the round rubber thingies on the bottom, and the shiney thingies on the top.
3) Never let the rear wheels get in front of the front wheels (unless backing up, then pay special attn to #1)
4) Just because the car can, doesn't mean you should.
5) The rule in traffic is that someone is always about to something really stupid, make sure it isn't you.
These are really fun cars to drive. They accelerate, corner, and cruise like no other. Because of this, we have a special responsiblity when it comes to sharing the road with others. There is a time and place for everything.
Something else to think about public roads other than other cars. They are never perfect flat surfaces. They are full of debris, oils, rocks and things that will cause one to lose traction at high speeds. Speed limits are not only there to keep us from running into eachother but also to ensure that we do not lose control according to the type and dynamics of the road. So, when I have an open stretch of interstate in front of me, no one in sight, and the thought of how fast I can go, I ask myself one question: "What would a pot hole do to my car at 1xx MPH?"
