I'm slowly gettimg my 84 into decent mechanical shape. I cant beleive how the prior owner neglected this car. I really enjoy driving it. I've even started to talking to it..... if it talks back I'll let ya know.
The digital dash. Its barely readable unless I put on the parking or headlights. It lights up fine. Now its starting to go out and flutter even with the lights on. If I tap on it it will come back to life. Is there a connector that could be loose? If so where would I look? Or am I looking at removing it and having it serviced. Mid America wants $350 and 6 weeks for the repair. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks!
Greg, Keystring is right. Don't discount Batee.com....it's just a dudes personal website so many Vette owners click back out thinking that it couldn't be an answer......
But I'm here to tell ya' Batee.com is the best resource for fixing all your issues.
If your not comfortable with doing the repair yourself. SCARABEXC is a forum member and does repair on the digital dash. He done the one on my 84 two years ago and no problems...Just something else to consider..
I'll bet you that the light sensor (just above and to the left of the speedo) has failed. Normally, if you cover it, it will dim the lights. If you put your finder over it and the dash lighting doesn't change brightness, that would be the first thing I would look into.
Wow you guys are great! Thanks for the info.... I dont think I'll do the repair myself...I'll remove it, that seems easy enough. I'll send it out for the repair/ Seems like a good cold weather project when I wont mind not driving the car so much.
